Ainsley Smith BSc MCOptom DCLP - Practice Director.

 

Along with his brother and father, Ainsley Smith took over the practice from Mr Bellmore in 1985. He has been sole director since 2007. 

 

Ainsley graduated from City University in 1979 obtaining a first class honours degree in Optometry. He qualified as an optometrist after completing his pre-registration training at Moorfields Eye Hospital Contact Lens Department, becoming Senior Optometrist/ Contact Lens Fitter. He completed his Diploma in Contact Lens Practice at Moorfields in 1984.

 

He continues his interest in specialist contact lens care and management of the clinical services we provide.

 

Optometrist Ainsley consults on all of our working days.

 

 

John O'Donnell 

BSc MCOptom FBDO - Optician & Optometrist.

 

John is an Optometrist and Dispensing Optician with 30 years experience in eye care.

He qualified from City University and trained at the Institute of Optometry.

 

John consults at Bellmores Opticians on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and would be delighted to help you with your sight, spectacles and any aspect of your eyes or vision that you have a concern with.  

 

Optometrist & Optician John has worked at Bellmores for nine years.

 

 

 

 

Marek Karas Bsc(Hons) MCOptom - Optometrist

 

Marek graduated from City University in 1991 and qualified as an Optometrist in 1992 after his pre-registration year at Moorfields Eye Hospital. He joined Bellmores Opticians in 2000.

 

Marek held the role of Senior Optometrist at Moorfields Eye Hospital until in 1998 and has been optometric advisor and clinical lead (low vision services) for the Royal National Institute of Blind People 2003-2010. He currently also works for Guy’s and St Thomas Trust (Low Vision Service) and is a Tutor/Assessor at the Welsh Optometric Postgraduate School, Cardiff University.

 

Marek has a particular interest in working with children, people with learning disabilities and older people.

 

Optometrist Marek is available for consultations on Wednesday.

 

 

Andrew Dean FBDO - Registered Optician

 

Andrew studied ophthalmic dispensing at City and London Dispensing College qualifing in 1984. He has worked in a wide range of practices and has a special interest in paediatric spectacle dispensing, audiology and spectacle manufacture and assembly.

 

Optician Andrew is available to help you on all of our working days.
